Introducing; The HAMLET Family of Cozumel Island, México.
The HYPOPLECTRUS species of the Hamlet/Seabass-Serranidae Family, are beautiful reef decoration fishes, some ichthyologists (fish specialists) considere all of them to be variations of only one specie, Butter Hamlet; but to my eyes and taste, they are all gorgeous!! Before Hurricane Wilma came by, seven sub-species used to be found together in only one reef area, Chankanaab boulders; not anymore though, for the last two years have not seen the seven species again there, some of them not even in other reefs.

My favorite hamlet, very pretty indeed, blue and white markins, the biggest of the hamlets we have observed in Cozumel, I even have a very rare photo sequence of five pictures displaying two of them fighting in one of the Boulders of Chankanaab, amazing oportunity for a Divemaster to observe some of the fish behaviour. On my web site you will find another picture of one we thought it looks pregnant, check it out. Also, the number of them after Wilma hurricane decreased, you still find some in some reefs but not in the amounts found before and the reef sites than before.
